Right before vacation, I got an email from Sam Sessa that I couldn't refuse: the opportunity to design the program for the New Next Film Fest, sponsored by WYPR. When I returned we had less than a week to turn around a 48-page catalog.
With the help of co-founder Eric Allen Hatch and the assistant festival producer Emma Hannaway we were able to meet our deadline.
Inspired by Alex Fine's branding for the event, I translated the concept into chapter headers, paired Freight Text Pro as the body font, and used Alex's choice of Franklin Gothic URW for the headlines and schedule.
The schedule was a fun challenge. Not only was I working in black and white, but I wanted to keep it all on one spread for ease of use. When I ran into a friend and saw how she circled what she wanted to see, it warmed my heart to know that the most time-consuming spread in the program made her time at the festival so much more enjoyable!
